Summary

This scholarship program provides educational assistance to promising undergraduate students from countries classified as developing.  It is designed for individuals rather than organizations and is aimed at those who have recently completed or are completing secondary school.  Applicants must be under a certain age and demonstrate academic excellence alongside a commitment to service in their communities.  Candidates must either be applying to or be enrolled in their first bachelor’s degree program and plan to study in their home country or within another developing nation.  Pursuits in North America, Western Europe or similar regions are outside the scope of this opportunity.

In addition to academic achievement, successful applicants will have a track record of volunteer engagement and a plan to continue volunteering while studying.  The program seeks to support emerging leaders who intend to return to their countries after graduation to contribute to local development.  Family members of current participants or staff are not eligible.  While the scholarship helps with tuition and related educational expenses, recipients should expect to secure some of their own funding; it is not designed to cover all costs.  Required documentation includes personal identification, academic transcripts, national exam results, recommendation letters and a written or video statement explaining how the applicant meets the criteria and intends to make a positive impact.

Applications are generally due in early March for the following academic year, with the new application becoming available in December.  Candidates are encouraged to prepare early by gathering evidence of their service activities, obtaining official transcripts and recommendation letters, and translating documents into English where necessary.  The selection process is competitive, with only a small percentage of applicants receiving awards.  Final decisions are communicated during the summer, and those selected join a cohort of scholars dedicated to academic excellence and community service.
