The proposed funding will support the establishment of historical markers at key Revolutionary War locations across Connecticut, educating residents and tourists about the state's critical role. ## Connecticut's Revolutionary War Heritage ## The funding will enable better understanding of Connecticut's history through the installation of permanent outdoor markers. By emphasizing the state's contributions through documented events and important figures, the project aims to enhance public understanding of Connecticut's history. ## Addressing Gaps in Connecticut's Historical Narrative ## Charitable organizations and nonprofit educational institutions in Connecticut are eligible to apply for funding, with priority given to projects that demonstrate collaboration with local history organizations. State-specific criteria include a demonstrated understanding of Connecticut's Revolutionary War history and a clear plan for educational programming. Three state anchors are: the state's dense population, with over 700 residents per square mile; the significant historical tourism industry, which contributes over $1 billion to the state's economy; and the diverse cultural heritage, with over 20% of the population identifying as Italian-American. Connecticut's historic towns, such as Hartford and New Haven, will be prioritized due to their high concentration of Revolutionary War sites.
